CATIE and Fundación Ayuda en Acción formalize an alliance for sustainable development in Mesoamerica
- This agreement aims to promote joint actions with special attention to the indigenous populations of Central America and Mexico.
CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) signed a Cooperation Agreement with Fundación Ayuda en Acción, an international non-governmental non-profit organization based in Spain.
This agreement aims to promote joint actions focused on sustainable development, with particular attention to the indigenous populations of Central America and Mexico, promoting agriculture and the conservation of natural resources under a green and inclusive approach.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Luis Pocasangre, Director General of CATIE, and Mr. Jorge Cattaneo García, Director General of Fundación Ayuda en Acción.
During the signing, Cattaneo expressed his satisfaction with the alliance and highlighted the importance of articulating projects that both institutions are already implementing, as well as transferring good practices in key areas such as livestock farming, biodiversity, and water resource management.
"This agreement represents a great opportunity to join efforts for the benefit of people. We thank CATIE for its strategic vision, which will undoubtedly enhance our actions in the region," commented Cattaneo. He also emphasized the importance of jointly seeking funding to strengthen the projects in which both organizations are involved.
Fundación Ayuda en Acción, with a presence in 12 countries, mainly in Africa and Latin America, has its own funding and projects in competition with international entities such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF).
With this alliance, the impact of sustainable development initiatives in the Mesoamerican region is expected to be maximized, benefiting vulnerable communities and promoting a more equitable and sustainable future.
