- By January 2018, CATIE offers a virtual diploma in this innovative matter
November 17, 2017. To start 2018, CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) invites you to enroll in the Virtual Diploma Program Sustainable Development Goals, an international quality training consisting of three courses, which seek to strengthen the knowledge of professionals from all over the world who want to promote or improve programs of food security and sustainable development.
"The professional trained in this course will have the ability to interpret the reality at the territorial level, as well as the ecological, social and economic processes that must be addressed at different levels and strata according to the production processes", explained Jeanette Cárdenas, coordinator of the diploma course.
Cárdenas added that the professional will be endowed with a solid base of the conceptual evolution of sustainable development and the processes that have allowed the current progress in the objectives, as well as practical and efficient tools for the application of the SDGs to local, national and regional level.
The course will run from January 16 to March 25 and is aligned particularly with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are considered to determine the future orientation of the development work and will influence the planning of governments and donor funding priorities.
The duration of the diploma is 10 weeks, ordered by courses, the first of them deals with historical background, concept and areas of sustainable development. The second focuses on the Millennium Development Goals 2000-2015 and the SDGs 2015-2020 and the third emphasizes the application of the SDGs in projects and planning.
