  • In this fair livestock producers in the area learned about the development and use of multi-nutritional blocks

December 6, 2018. Within the framework of the VI Community Corn Fair, held on November 23 in the community of Ayotitlán, municipality of Cuautitlán de García Barragán, Jalisco, Mexico, the project Biodiversity and Agro-silvopastoral Sustainable Livestock Landscapes, known as BioPaSOS, gave a workshop on the development of multi-nutritional blocks for food supplementation of animals.

About 38 people participated in the workshop, including six women. A representative of the municipal government of Cuautitlán de García Barragán also participated.

The fair was organized by the Directorate of the Sierra de Manantlán Biosphere Reserve –National Commission on Natural Protected Areas  (DRBSM-CONANP), in conjunction with the  Inter-municipal Environment Board of the Southern Coast (JICOSUR, its Spanish acronym); both local partner organizations of the BioPaSOS project.

With the training provided by the project, the participating producers learned about the elaboration and use of multi-nutritional blocks, which constitute a food supplement that can be elaborated with local resources and contribute, along with other practices, to promote climate-smart livestock.
