Latin-American Chair of Environmental Decisions for Global Change

What we do?

We collaborate with different kinds of partners – NGO’s, national and local governments, academia – and donors in the design and implementation of tools that accompany processes to reduce the negative impacts of global change, and take advantage of its opportunities. Some examples of the tools we have promoted are: the design of support systems for spatial decisions, the design of strategic land management taking social value of ecosystems into account, negotiation tools based on different stakeholders’ values to build robust governance mechanisms, prioritizing actions and areas for intervention, and the analysis of complex decisions combining the use of social psychology and game theories. Furthermore, from these experiences and the systemization of these processes, we’ve designed courses to prepare individuals to enrich their choices for tools to tackle complex problems with the innovations of decision-making science, which is always being used to face the challenges of global change.
