CATIE´s main functions of research, education and advocacy for development are implemented under the theme of Forests. We have four lines of word.
- Participatory governance of territories. Includes Model Forests, protected areas and biological corridors.
- Applied ecological research and ecological monitoring. Both emphasize the long term, ensuring proper management and the appropriate open distribution of the data.
- Diversified forest management with an emphasis on value chains for timber products and the permanent generation of income.
- Conservation of biodiversity.
