{"id":18575,"date":"2023-08-23T11:49:07","date_gmt":"2023-08-23T17:49:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/2023\/08\/21\/vicepresidente-de-costa-rica-explora-soluciones-innovadoras-en-el-catie-para-el-desarrollo-sostenible-2\/"},"modified":"2023-08-23T16:01:41","modified_gmt":"2023-08-23T22:01:41","slug":"catie-se-unio-a-la-celebracion-costarricense-del-dia-de-los-parques-nacionales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/en\/2023\/08\/23\/catie-se-unio-a-la-celebracion-costarricense-del-dia-de-los-parques-nacionales\/","title":{"rendered":"CATIE joins costa rican National Parks Day celebration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>We participated in the little market of environmental education experiences, organized by SINAC, in Turrialba.<\/em><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>August 23, 2023. <\/strong>In an initiative led by the Central Conservation Area (CCA) of the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC), Turrialba was chosen as the backdrop for the celebration of the National Parks Day, an event that also marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Guayabo National Monument.<\/p><p>On August 22 and 23, an environmental education experience market took place, resulting from a collaboration between SINAC-CCA and the Atlantic Campus of the University of Costa Rica. In this space, CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) had a stand showcasing some of their efforts towards sustainability, production, and environmental conservation.<\/p><p>The market aimed at exchanging knowledge, promoting dialogue and interaction. Participants had the chance to share experiences, materials, and learnings. Demonstrations, hands-on activities, and sensory experiences were encouraged, strengthening environmental education management.<\/p><p>The primary attendees were primary, secondary, and university-level students, as well as SINAC officials, members of various organizations and institutions, indigenous leaders, and local Turrialba stakeholders.<\/p><p>At its stand, CATIE displayed a variety of seeds, woods, and fruits from Costa Rica's wet and dry forests. Additionally, they presented findings from research on the pivotal role birds and bees play as pollinating agents in coffee plantations, contributions made by their Forest and Biodiversity in Productive Landscapes Unit. Simultaneously, the Climate Action Unit showcased their projects related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, offering attendees a broader insight into their efforts in this area.<\/p><figure provided an opportunity for learning and sharing but also emphasized the importance of conservation and the active role each individual and institution can play in environmental
