{"id":23405,"date":"2023-12-20T16:10:29","date_gmt":"2023-12-20T22:10:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/?p=23405"},"modified":"2023-12-20T16:10:31","modified_gmt":"2023-12-20T22:10:31","slug":"catie-abre-convocatoria-para-financiamiento-de-maestrias-en-proyecto-escalar-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/en\/2023\/12\/20\/catie-abre-convocatoria-para-financiamiento-de-maestrias-en-proyecto-escalar-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"CATIE opens a call for master's degree funding in the ESCALAR Project 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>Students from Latin America and the Caribbean Wanted for Three Key Research Areas<\/em><\/li><\/ul><p>CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) is announcing a call for students from Latin America and the Caribbean interested in pursuing master's degrees in 2024 under the ESCALAR Project (2022-2026).<\/p><p>This project, focused on strengthening resilience to climate change through agricultural innovations, is seeking young leaders from vulnerable communities in the Dry Corridor of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.<\/p><p><strong>Details of the ESCALAR Project<\/strong><\/p><p>Implemented by CATIE with the support of Swedish Cooperation and strategic partners, the ESCALAR Project aims to develop rural enterprises led by young people, thus contributing to a more effective adaptation of agriculture in high-priority areas.<\/p><p>To achieve this goal, students with an interest in three key research areas for the year 2024 are sought:<\/p><p><strong>BIOECONOMY:<\/strong> Valorization of Waste in the Coffee Production and Processing Chain.<\/p><p><strong>COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS:<\/strong> Innovations for climate change adaptation using stochastic methods, including Monte Carlo Simulation.<\/p><p><strong>SOIL HEALTH IMPROVEMENT:<\/strong> In arid zones.<\/p><p><strong>Requirements and Benefits<\/strong><\/p><p>Selected individuals will receive financial support of USD 15,000 <strong>(fifteen thousand US dollars)<\/strong>, distributed as USD 6,000 for living expenses during the first academic year (USD 500 per month) and USD 9,000 for academic tuition payment.<\/p><p>They will work at least 10 hours per week on activities related to the ESCALAR Project, considering this financial support as consultancy.<\/p><p><strong>Steps to Apply<\/strong><\/p><p>The application reception will be open until Tuesday, January 30, 2024, before 18:00 Costa Rican time.<\/p><p>Step 1:<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/DhT3YKGBSFgwWHx27\">Complete this form.<\/a><\/p><p>Step 2:<\/p><p>Requirements to be attached in the Google form:<\/p><p>a) One-page Purpose or Interest Statement with 1.1 line spacing, in Calibri font, size 11.
