The discussion centered on advancements in coffee and cacao genetic improvement programs, highlighting their role in reducing pesticide use due to the hybrids' resistance to pests and diseases. Additionally, the superior quality of these crops for high-end coffee and chocolate production was emphasized.<\/p><p>\"Hosting international students not only strengthens our external outreach but also allows us to share the impact of our work in research, education, and sustainability,\" emphasized Dr. L.E. Pocasangre.<\/p><p>Eli\u00e9cer Vargas, Coordinator of CATIE's <em>Study Abroad Program<\/em> , noted that the visit focused on key topics such as sustainability, tropical agriculture, climate change, and conservation, offering students an immersive experience that blends theory with practice.<\/p><p>CATIE, a benchmark institution in tropical agricultural education, positions itself as a key space for academic exchange and international cooperation.
