{"id":37057,"date":"2025-09-02T11:39:49","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T17:39:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/?p=37057"},"modified":"2025-09-02T11:40:44","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T17:40:44","slug":"finalizan-cursos-de-capacitacion-en-estadistica-avanzada-promovidos-por-catie-y-kolfaci","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/en\/2025\/09\/02\/finalizan-cursos-de-capacitacion-en-estadistica-avanzada-promovidos-por-catie-y-kolfaci\/","title":{"rendered":"Advanced Statistics Training Courses Conclude, Promoted by CATIE and KoLFACI"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em><em><em><em><em>CATIE, in its role as regional coordinator of projects sponsored by KoLFACI, has promoted two valuable and important training events for technicians from the Coffee and Cacao Projects.<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/li><\/ul><p>In May of this year, the courses on \u201cAdvanced Statistical Modeling for the Analysis of Data from Coffee and Cacao Trials\u201d began.<\/p><p>During 10 weeks of training, participants studied topics such as models for data correlated in time and space, with heterogeneous variances; as well as other modeling strategies for data with complex structures. Models for count variables were also addressed: Bernoulli, binomial, Poisson, and negative binomial models as main topics, in addition to other specific subjects proposed by the participants.&nbsp;<\/p><p>This training was carried out virtually, assisted by the Navure software. The course was led by M.Sc. Eduardo Corrales, from CATIE\u2019s Biostatistics Unit. Course participants represented a total of 11 countries: Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, and the Dominican Republic.<\/p><p><strong>International Technical Training<\/strong><\/p><div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"850\" height=\"446\" src=\"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/capacitacion-en-estadistica-KoLFACI2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37061\" style=\"width:593px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/capacitacion-en-estadistica-KoLFACI2.jpg 850w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/capacitacion-en-estadistica-KoLFACI2-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/capacitacion-en-estadistica-KoLFACI2-768x403.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/capacitacion-en-estadistica-KoLFACI2-18x9.jpg 18w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/capacitacion-en-estadistica-KoLFACI2-600x315.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/figure><\/div><p>The syllabus was selected with the goal of providing advanced knowledge in the field of statistical analysis in order to improve the skills of the technicians involved in both projects. This, in turn, will allow them to have the necessary tools to perform analyses and generate more complex results and interpretations using the data generated by the projects. Possessing this knowledge and tools will also enable them to prepare more robust documents and scientific publications, further supporting the projection of the work carried out by each institution in the different countries.<\/p><p>At the end of these 10 weeks, 35 technicians successfully completed the course, thus obtaining a certificate of approval, endorsed by CATIE, for a total of 40 hours of training. It is important to mention that the new knowledge acquired will be applied within the projects promoted by KoLFACI, as well as in other projects of the partner institutions, contributing to data analysis in other activities not only for coffee and cacao crops but also for other productive sectors.<\/p><p><strong>Ongoing Strengthening<\/strong><\/p><p>CATIE and KoLFACI will continue to promote capacity-building activities for the coffee and cacao projects implemented in the region.
