Science cannot evolve if it does not listen to those who face the challenges of the Central American Dry Corridor every day.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p>CATIE\u2019s Director General, Dr. Luis Pocasangre, highlighted:<\/p><blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-da5edd3aa471b427b80e0ff84e4369ce is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" style=\"color:#093870\"><p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1ad9a0e36af46d0cb4c4c4476ee76602\" style=\"color:#093870\">\u201cThis fair is actually a scientific congress, with the particularity that many experiences come from cooperatives and producers. That is why, for us, it is essential to be able to mobilize resources, knowledge, and human capital that will allow us to continue identifying solutions that can be replicated and extended to all countries that are especially vulnerable to this phenomenon.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p>Silja Halle, Director of the Environmental Security Program at UNEP, emphasized how Nature-based Solutions (NbS), in addition to generating environmental benefits:<\/p><blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6a549179560afd7fe046d5652dc02c27 is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" style=\"color:#093870\"><p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c4556030bf9d86163b5267771f852a04\" style=\"color:#093870\">\u201cThey help generate economic opportunities for young people, as a mechanism to reduce organized crime and violence, as well as migration from their territories.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p>Jorge Oviedo, Executive Director of the Environmental Investment Fund of El Salvador, addressed the different avenues for financing environmental projects in the region:<\/p><blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-19920abc5ea962e4d63c06488bc8d5ba is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" style=\"color:#093870\"><p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1c5d9b8b373024789b14b15b4417f852\" style=\"color:#093870\">\u00a0\u201cThese funds must ensure territorial governance, sustainability criteria, and clear requirements that guarantee that financing reaches the communities and projects on the ground.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p>Dina N\u00fa\u00f1ez, co-founder and Vice President of FOMEECARD and Impact <a>Hub<\/a> Honduras, stressed the importance of supporting and strengthening rural businesses led by women and youth:<\/p><blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-acf80467cb43a03aef21f2faf50d12ea is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" style=\"color:#093870\"><p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-520efad481294215bd6bb2382695ca4d\" style=\"color:#093870\">\u00a0\u201cIt is an opportunity to innovate, to identify access to resources and not only generate income, but also strengthen resilience and rootedness.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p>Muhammad Ibrahim, environmental livestock expert and former Director of CATIE, stated:<\/p><blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3a301ecbf2e55b0838c4a73eb42b6980 is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" style=\"color:#093870\"><p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5615f83d560fb49211c1915a0e001bcb\" style=\"color:#093870\">\u201cThe fair demonstrated that science, technology, and innovation not only show results, they also make visible the processes, objectives, and barriers that we must overcome to transform territories. Now we need to work on designing a new narrative and institutional framework, accompanied by policies that respond to the challenges of peace, security, climate change, and the environment.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p>The technical panels reinforced the exchange with central topics such as resilient production, landscape restoration, biodiversity, NbS, scientific innovation, climate financing, and rural businesses.<\/p><p>The fair also featured a central exhibition area of stands and posters, where participants took center stage to share how the tools, experiences, and services presented have been implemented.
