{"id":41090,"date":"2026-04-13T09:57:31","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T15:57:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/?p=41090"},"modified":"2026-04-13T09:57:33","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T15:57:33","slug":"gira-a-emprendimientos-apoyados-por-activa-catie-evidencia-avances-del-capital-semilla-en-territorios-rurales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/en\/2026\/04\/13\/gira-a-emprendimientos-apoyados-por-activa-catie-evidencia-avances-del-capital-semilla-en-territorios-rurales\/","title":{"rendered":"Tour of enterprises supported by Activa-CATIE highlights progress of seed capital in rural territories"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em><em><em><em><em><em><em><em>Initiatives dedicated to organic coffee, vegetables and fruits, sustainable livestock production, and bioinputs opened their doors on March 26 and 27 to showcase their progress.<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/li><\/ul><p>Entrepreneurships incubated by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Laboratory: Activa of CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) and beneficiaries of seed capital resources provided by the Development Banking System (SBD), received a visit from a delegation of both institutions with the objective of verifying in the field the progress achieved and the proper execution of the allocated resources, as part of the process of strengthening the rural entrepreneurial sector in Costa Rica.<\/p><p>\u201cAmong the objectives of the tour was to verify the purchasing processes and investments made with SBD resources, as well as the support provided by Activa-CATIE. In addition, we sought to learn directly from the entrepreneurs about the significant changes and improvements in their productive processes and business models,\u201d explained Vladimir Valera, coordinator of Activa-CATIE. &nbsp;<\/p><p>The tour took place specifically in the territories of Zamora, Po\u00e1s, Poasito and Naranjo, in the province of Alajuela, areas characterized by their agricultural vocation and productive dynamics linked to agroindustry and primary production.<br><\/p><div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"850\" height=\"638\" src=\"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41093\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa2.jpg 850w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa2-16x12.jpg 16w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa2-600x450.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/figure><\/div><p><br>During the visit, a total of eight enterprises representative of rural innovation and sustainability in the region were visited. For example, in Zamora, the delegation learned about the experiences of Ganader\u00eda RyA and Chibuz\u00fa. In Po\u00e1s, visits were made to Finca Lora and Agroesquivel. El Toledo - Hortalizas BIO, located in San Juan Norte of San Pedro de Po\u00e1s, and Caf\u00e9 Rualdo, in Santa Rosa of San Rafael, were also visited.<\/p><p>In the locality of Poasito, the facilities of Lombritec, specialized in the production of bioinputs, were toured, while in San Jer\u00f3nimo de Naranjo, Caf\u00e9 Dos Robles, an enterprise linked to value-added coffee production, was visited.<\/p><p>\u201cThe enterprises visited reflect a productive diversity aligned with approaches to sustainability, value-added generation, and rural innovation within the framework of Activa-CATIE\u2019s work,\u201d noted Vinicio Vargas, business development manager at Activa-CATIE.<br><\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"531\" height=\"709\" data-id=\"41094\" src=\"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41094\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa3.jpg 531w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa3-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa3-9x12.jpg 9w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 531px) 100vw, 531px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"531\" height=\"709\" data-id=\"41095\" src=\"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41095\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa5.jpg 531w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa5-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa5-9x12.jpg 9w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 531px) 100vw, 531px\" \/><\/figure><\/figure><p><br><strong>Validation and follow-up in the territory<\/strong><\/p><p>During the second day of the tour, the Activa-CATIE team, together with Johana Rodr\u00edguez, innovation and entrepreneurship manager at SBD, visited four of the eight enterprises selected within the framework of compliance with the Agreement for the Custody, Administration and Channeling of Seed Capital Resources from the National Development Fund (FONADE) between SBD and CATIE, as well as the Accreditation and Monitoring Model for Operating Agencies.<\/p><p>\u201cIn all the projects we were able to verify how each of the enterprises is organized, the difficulties they face, and their evolution process. We also observed how, through the support provided by Activa-CATIE, they have developed their projects or achieved the objectives they had already planned,\u201d Rodr\u00edguez stated.<\/p><p>According to Luis Daniel Rojas and Vinicio Vargas, technical and administrative staff from Activa-CATIE who participated in the tour, the visit had both an operational and strategic focus, which made it possible to verify in the field the proper use of the resources channeled through SBD, as well as to observe firsthand the progress achieved by the supported enterprises.<br><\/p><div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"850\" height=\"638\" src=\"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41096\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa4.jpg 850w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa4-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa4-16x12.jpg 16w, https:\/\/www.catie.ac.cr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Gira-Activa4-600x450.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/figure><\/div><p><br>The tour also facilitated the collection of key inputs to strengthen future processes of implementation, monitoring, and design of support instruments, while reaffirming the coordination between Activa-CATIE and SBD in favor of the national entrepreneurial ecosystem.
