      • Below, we present some testimonials from graduates who have found success in their careers thanks to the educational contribution of the institution.

July 27, 2023. During the IX CATIE-IICA Graduates' Meeting held on July 21 at the Henry A. Wallace building's former directors' hall, participants emphasized the valuable contribution that the education received at the institution has had on their professional lives.

For over 50 years, CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) has been training professionals who have made a significant impact in their specialized fields.

Below, we present some testimonials from graduates who have found success in their careers thanks to the educational contribution of the institution.

Edgar Giovanni Reyes is a graduate of the 2021 cohort of the virtual modality of the Master's in Agribusiness and Sustainable Market Management. Currently, he works at the University of El Salvador, specifically in the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences. Thanks to his master's degree at CATIE, he has been able to incorporate valuable elements into the subjects of agribusiness and agribusiness management in his faculty. His education at CATIE has been fundamental to his professional growth and to contributing to the development of the agricultural sector in his country.

Hilda Luz Lezcano is part of the 2000-2001 cohort specializing in Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation. Her time at this institution has had a profound influence on her academic formation, allowing her to become a university professor. Using the knowledge acquired at CATIE, her career path serves as an inspiring example for future generations of students interested in environmental preservation.

On the other hand, Nick Muir is a graduate of the 95-96 generation. After completing his studies, he worked in Mexico and later in the United States. A few years ago, he decided to return to Costa Rica, and today he is part of CATIE's team in international projects, such as World Coffee Research and Innovea, dedicated to coffee genetic improvement. His professional success and contribution to agricultural research are clear evidence of the quality of education offered by CATIE.

Finally, Eddie Romero Del Valle of Dominican and Costa Rican origin, graduated from the Master's in Watershed Management in 1991. His experience at CATIE has had a significant impact on both his personal and professional development. Currently, he serves as the director of the Eastern Central Region of the National Service of Underground Water, Irrigation, and Drainage. The solid education received at CATIE has enabled him to successfully face the challenges of his position and contribute to the sustainable management of water resources in the region.

These testimonials reflect the educational contribution and positive impact that CATIE has on the training of professionals committed to sustainable development, environmental conservation, and agricultural progress in the region.
