October 27, 2023. "The Path of a Dream: A Brief History of the New William Allen Tylor Hospital" is a touching book created by Lasel Lonis and Nora Gómez, which was presented on Friday, October 17, during the 2022-2023 graduation ceremony at CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Teaching Center).

The book tells the inspiring story of how the modern medical center in Turrialba came into being, thanks to the tireless effort and determination of Lasel Lonis, a community leader who led the struggle that made this dream possible.

The publication was a collaboration between the CATIE Communication and Marketing Office, Lasel Lonis, and Nora Gómez. It serves as a valuable documentary record of the development and completion of this healthcare infrastructure in the region.

Lonis, with gratitude to his colleagues, expressed, "This book is a historical legacy for Turrialba and its future generations, a tribute to those who contributed to this great work over more than 20 years. I was not alone, but part of a great team of people who came together to achieve this dream."

The book, titled "The Path of a Dream," began as an idea shared between Lasel Lonis and Nora Gómez, who embarked on writing a document that focused on life, leadership, and the path to the realization of this community dream.

"I am very grateful to Mr. Muhammad Ibrahim, the Director-General of CATIE, who, with his support, made this book a reality. To everyone who participated in writing, design, and direction, thank you very much," said Mr. Lasel.

La ceremonia de graduación 2023 del CATIE fue el escenario para presentar este libro, como un ejemplo para las generaciones futuras que buscan liderar el bienestar de la sociedad.

Dr. Ibrahim highlighted Mr. Lasel's contribution to the community. "We have been friends for over 30 years. Mr. Lasel has a great ability to educate and is also a fighter, a very persistent person, true to his values. As graduates, you should follow the example of visionary leaders like Mr. Lasel."

      About Mr. Lasel:

Lasel Lonis arrived in Turrialba from La France de Siquirres at the age of 17 and became a beloved member of the community.

His commitment to social good began with the Junior Chamber, where he helped raise funds for the new Turrialba temple. Later, he founded the iconic restaurant "El Kingston."

Mr. Lasel has played key roles in various organizations, including the local Tourism Chamber, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Health Board, which achieved the construction of the new hospital, a significant milestone in the development of the canton.

His life is an example of community leadership and service over the decades.
