Transform Your Future! Young People from the Dominican Republic Can Now Apply for Postgraduate Scholarships at CATIE
- The deadline for applications for on-site master's scholarships is February 21 of the current year.
February 2, 2024. For the sixth time, CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) is part of the international scholarship program offered by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (MESCyT) of the Dominican Republic.
This led to the start of the scholarship application process on the website 'Beca tu futuro | Crece tu talento, crece el país' (scholarships.gob.do) for all individuals in the country interested in pursuing a postgraduate master's degree at the institution. The application deadline is February 21 of the current year.
The joint cooperation agreement began in 2018 and has allowed more than 34 professionals to pursue their studies at CATIE. This alliance has been committed to the education of young people from the Dominican Republic through postgraduate education, courses, and diplomas in topics related to agriculture, natural resources, and biodiversity conservation. The goal is to address current agri-food, social, and environmental challenges while building more resilient territories.
The program's main objective is to promote greater equality of opportunities, enabling Dominican individuals to access master's and doctoral programs at internationally acclaimed universities in countries such as Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Spain, the United States, France, and Italy.
Mariela Leandro, Dean of the Graduate School, stated that the Dominican government, through MESCyT, is making a significant effort to provide opportunities for young people with limited resources in the country. This aims to allow them to pursue high-level educational opportunities, enabling them to contribute their knowledge and strengthen the country's human capital.
"Over the years, many people have benefited from this scholarship, successfully completing their study programs and conducting impactful research at the national and regional levels," she said.
