Open Webinar: Is It Possible to Apply Regenerative Practices to Pineapple Cultivation? These Cases Prove It
- Facing the challenges posed by pineapple agriculture, this webinar serves as a global showcase to exhibit innovative and sustainable regenerative practices..
Next Wednesday, April 17, at 8 a.m. CST (local time in Costa Rica), the webinar "Exploring Regenerative Practices for Sustainable and Resilient Pineapple Agriculture" will take place, aimed at all those interested in the future of sustainable agriculture.
This virtual session, which will be broadcasted via Zoom and is co-organized by the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) and Rainforest Alliance, promises to be an enriching space to discover how we can transform pineapple production, facing environmental and social challenges through the adoption of regenerative agriculture models.
In the face of the challenges posed by conventional agriculture, with its well-known environmental impacts, this webinar presents itself as a global showcase to exhibit innovative and sustainable agroforestry and regenerative practices.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experts and leaders in the field, who will share valuable lessons and success stories that demonstrate how these practices not only improve resilience and yields but also ensure better conditions for agricultural workers.
This event is ideal for producers, technicians, collaborators, and cooperatives interested in enriching their knowledge and skills with techniques that promote environmental sustainability and offer tangible socioeconomic benefits.
"This is an invitation to rethink and revitalize agricultural practices for pineapple production, both in Costa Rica and in other producing countries, through an approach that responds to the current needs of the planet and its inhabitants," said Elías de Melo, researcher at the Agroforestry and Coffee and Cocoa Genetic Improvement Unit of CATIE, who will participate as an expert in the webinar.
Don't miss the opportunity to be part of this global meeting that seeks to inspire a transformative change in pineapple agriculture through regeneration and sustainability.

Based on Scientific Evidence
The lessons and success stories to be shared in the webinar arise from the research that led to the Technical Manual and the Guide for Producers titled "Regenerative Agriculture in Pineapple Farms (Ananas comosus): An Innovative Approach in the Context of Climate Change"; both of which are available to the general public.
With these publications, CATIE and Rainforest Alliance aim to train producers, technicians, collaborators, and cooperatives on innovative techniques that not only improve environmental sustainability but also promote socioeconomic benefits in pineapple cultivation.
