Sixth Generation of GANEMOS Master's Students at CATIE Begins the Educational Journey
- The welcome and induction session brought together participants from 12 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The launch of the new cohort of the Master's in Sustainable Business and Market Management (GANEMOS) was held on Friday, September 6, in a virtual space that allowed the enrolled students to learn more about CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center).
Adriana Escobedo, a specialist in sustainable agribusiness and coordinator of GANEMOS, was in charge of facilitating the session and explaining the impact the master's program has had since its inception.
Escobedo spoke about the value proposition, the competencies, the curriculum, and the methodology used to enhance learning and stand out from other study programs.
"We emphasize quality, not quantity," said Escobedo. "What we always aim for is to provide you with a high-level, high-quality experience so that, day by day, and hopefully from the first week of each course, you feel that the investment you are making is paying off and will triple later thanks to an improved professional profile," explained the master's coordinator to the 28 new students.
Maintaining an International Profile
This new class of the GANEMOS master's program comprises individuals from 12 countries, including Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, and the United States. This year, students from two countries that had not participated before, Puerto Rico and Uruguay, also joined.
"This cohort consists of professionals with a greater amount of experience and an important critical mass. On average, each of you has 10 years of work experience, which is invaluable when tackling the subjects and team projects, bringing a perspective that only years can provide," Escobedo explained.
Additionally, of the 28 students, 11 are women and 17 are men, with ages ranging from 26 to 53 years. Furthermore, 50.1% work in the agricultural sector, followed by 15.3% with experience in the environmental sector, the business sector, and the economic sector.
The new GANEMOS students work 42% in the private sector, while 17.6% are in state institutions. Additionally, 11.5% are dedicated to research or work in non-governmental organizations, while 9.8% work in educational institutions, among others.
Let's Talk About GANEMOS and AGROMIRA
The GANEMOS master's program opens year after year, offering a study and quality opportunity. Additionally, in 2025, all students, graduates, or alumni of GANEMOS can participate in AGROMIRA, the most relevant international event in sustainable agribusiness in Latin America and the Caribbean.
