CATIE Announces its Wallace Scientific Conference 2025: Health, Innovation, and Sustainability

- From October 28 to 30, international experts will convene to address the importance of holistic health in agroforestry and livestock systems in the tropics and subtropics.
CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) is pleased to announce that from October 28 to 30, 2025, it will hold the IX Wallace Scientific Conference 2025 under the theme: "The Importance of One Health for Agroforestry and Livestock Systems in the Tropics and Subtropics."
The conference, to be held on the CATIE campus in Costa Rica, will bring together national and international experts to discuss how the health of soil, plants, animals, and humans is interconnected within agroforestry and livestock systems and how these interactions are crucial for sustainable development in the tropics and subtropics.
Highlighted topics of the conference include:
- Soil health: Strategies to ensure productive and resilient ecosystems.
- Sustainable agricultural production: Reducing pesticide use, agroforestry, and biodiversity.
- Animal health: Antibiotic-free and safe food production, and low-emission livestock production.
- One Water for One Health: An integrated approach to water resource management.
- Environmental health at the landscape level: Protection of terrestrial and marine ecosystems.
- Inclusive approaches: Bioeconomy, indigenous communities, value chains, gender, and social inclusion.
