      • AGROMIRA 2025, organized by CATIE, will offer entrepreneurs, producers, and key players in the agricultural sector the opportunity to learn about innovative and sustainable practices for their businesses.

From May 6 to 8, 2025, CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) in Turrialba, Costa Rica, will host AGROMIRA 2025, the most significant international event in sustainable agribusiness in Latin America and the Caribbean. This event will provide entrepreneurs, producers, and innovators in the agricultural sector with the opportunity to learn about innovative practices to make their businesses more sustainable and profitable.

According to the FAO, one-third of all food intended for human consumption is lost or wasted each year, amounting to approximately 1.3 billion tons. AGROMIRA 2025 aims to contribute solutions to this global challenge by promoting more efficient and resilient agri-food systems in the region.

      Featured Speakers

AGROMIRA 2025 will feature renowned experts, including Jordy Alemany, recognized by Forbes as one of the most influential business leaders in Spain and by LinkedIn as a leading voice in leadership. Other speakers include:

      • Edgar Andrés Huamán - Director at Agromarketing LATAM, Peru.
      • Gustavo Manrique Miranda – Former Minister of Environment of Ecuador and President of the Verdad Awards for Latin America and the Caribbean.
      • Carla Fernández – Professor at INCAE Business School, Costa Rica.
      • Carlos Vidal – Blockchain expert, Argentina.
      • Gustavo Ferro – Expert in international trade, Brazil.
      • María Inés Miranda – Co-founder of INNOVATURE, Chile.
      • Johana Fernández – Specialist in international business, Colombia.
      • José Carlos Martínez – Director of Innovation at Reforestemos México.
      • Erick Apuy – Specialist in international trade and consumer psychology, Costa Rica.
      • Juan Celín Chacón – Coordinator of Agricultural Sustainability at Dos Pinos, Costa Rica.
      • Manuel Rodríguez – Representative for Costa Rica at DSIK, Germany.

“A distinctive aspect of AGROMIRA 2025 is that the speakers are professionals who work daily in the field, sharing real experiences and key learnings,” said Adriana Escobedo, event coordinator and sustainable agribusiness specialist at CATIE.

Escobedo also highlighted that AGROMIRA is a collaborative platform designed to create a community committed to sustainability and improving processes along the production chain. Moreover, it represents a key opportunity for companies and brands seeking visibility and connections with leaders, experts, and decision-makers in the agricultural sector, including agriculture, forestry, livestock, aquaculture, and fisheries, among others.

Through conferences, workshops, and exclusive networking spaces, attendees will be able to establish strategic connections to enhance their market presence.

As part of AGROMIRA 2025’s agenda, four thematic blocks will be addressed to enhance professional competencies: market opportunities, innovative and sustainable management models, new financing models, and applied technology.

      Participation and Costs

AGROMIRA 2025 offers two participation modalities:

In-Person: Costs range from $300 to $600 and include access to all activities, materials, meals, and a participation certificate.

Virtual: For $50, participants will have access to four main sessions, one workshop, and a participation certificate.

Additionally, the in-person event will feature a Speed networking space, designed to help professionals and entrepreneurs interested in agribusiness sustainability establish connections and collaborations for future projects.

      AGROMIRA Awards

As part of the event, the AGROMIRA Awards will be launched through the social media platform @agromiracatie on Facebook, recognizing outstanding experiences in sustainable agribusiness and promoting their scalability as models of success.
