Agromira 2025 to Bring Global Agribusiness Leaders Together in Costa Rica

- Over 150 participants from 18 countries have confirmed their in-person attendance, with many more joining virtually.
From May 6 to 8, the CATIE campus in Turrialba, Costa Rica, will host AGROMIRA 2025, the international event positioning Costa Rica as the epicenter of sustainable agribusiness in Latin America and the Caribbean. This first edition will gather over 150 participants from 18 countries in person, with many more attending virtually.
AGROMIRA has been conceived as a regional platform aimed at accelerating the sustainable transformation of agriculture, connecting key stakeholders, and providing tools for innovation in an increasingly challenging global context. The event is already Sold Out for in-person tickets, but anyone interested can still join virtually from anywhere through agromira.catie.ac.cr.
Among the prominent figures participating is Jordi Alemany, a leading expert in leadership and organizational transformation, who will deliver a keynote speech, joined by nearly 30 speakers—sector specialists in markets, innovation, technology, and finance from across Latin America and the Caribbean.
We will also feature a keynote address by Anabel González, current Vice President for Countries and Regional Integration at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), former Costa Rican Minister of Trade, and a key voice in international trade. González will discuss the current challenges and opportunities for accessing global markets for agribusinesses in a changing sociopolitical environment.
The opening ceremony will include the participation of Costa Rica’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Victor Carvajal, as the guest of honor, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the development of the agricultural sector.
“Today, more than ever, we recognize that the future of agriculture and regional food security depends on our ability to face global challenges… AGROMIRA 2025 is a key opportunity to share experiences, build alliances, and project a vision where agribusinesses are engines of economic, social, and environmental development,” the Minister stated.
The AGROMIRA 2025 training program includes 4 keynote conferences, 20 in-person workshops, 4 virtual workshops, 6 discussion panels, and 4 side events. These activities will provide essential tools for stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia, and civil society interested in building more resilient, sustainable, and inclusive models.
One of the highlights of the event will be the trade fair featuring 36 booths, located in the parking area of the Graduate School, offering a diverse showcase of products, services, and initiatives related to innovation, agriculture, tourism, bioeconomy, sustainability, and more.
“Agromira wasn’t born in a meeting room; it was born in the field, from listening to those who are building real and sustainable solutions and need tools, knowledge, and a community to support them,” said Adriana Escobedo, event coordinator and sustainable agribusiness specialist at CATIE.
According to the FAO, one-third of all food intended for human consumption is lost or wasted each year, amounting to approximately 1.3 billion tons. AGROMIRA 2025 aims to contribute solutions to this global challenge by promoting more efficient and resilient agri-food systems in the region.
