CATIE International Fair 2025 Reaffirms Its Social Commitment and Delivers Funds to Institutions in Turrialba

- Thanks to your support, we raised over 9 million colones to assist institutions and associations that work for social and educational well-being in the canton.
On June 7 and 8, the campus of CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) came alive to host a new edition of its emblematic International Fair, the institution’s most important social responsibility event.
With a diverse program that included top-level concerts, athletic races (5K and 10K), mountain biking competitions (MTB), children’s games, educational talks, and gastronomy featuring flavors from around the world, the fair once again became a meeting point for culture, sports, and solidarity in Turrialba.
Thanks to the support of the community, visitors, and sponsors, the event raised more than ₡9 million, which will be allocated to 9 social and educational institutions and associations in Turrialba. These funds will enable each beneficiary organization to make infrastructure improvements, purchase equipment, and strengthen their community programs.

Fund Delivery
The funds were delivered on August 13 at CATIE, during a gathering attended by representatives of the beneficiary institutions from Turrialba, the fair’s organizing committee, and CATIE’s Director General, Dr. Luis Pocasangre.

“The fair is much more than a cultural and recreational event. It is proof that when the community, institutions, and businesses come together, we can generate a real impact on those who need it most. This year, thanks to the enthusiasm of the participants and the commitment of our sponsors, we raised resources that will strengthen the work of organizations dedicated to social and educational well-being. It is a source of pride to see how the fair continues to grow and leave a positive mark in Turrialba,” said Dr. Pocasangre.
Similarly, Margarita Alvarado, coordinator of the CATIE International Fair, highlighted that the spirit of the event is to unite the community around values such as solidarity, culture, and learning. “We don’t just entertain; we build the future,” she added, emphasizing the social impact that is strengthened year after year through joint work between CATIE, sponsors, participants, and Turrialba.
The official delivery of funds was a special and emotional occasion, where experiences and words of gratitude were shared, along with the satisfaction of seeing the fair’s solidarity goals materialize.
CATIE thanks all the individuals, companies, and organizations that made this edition possible and extends an invitation to continue participating in future activities that promote the integral development of Turrialba and the region.
