BIO EMPRENDE TRIFINIO Call Launched to Boost Green Businesses in the Region

- The initiative seeks to strengthen sustainable ideas and enterprises in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala through innovation and Nature-based Solutions.
Entrepreneurs in the Trifinio region now have a new opportunity to turn ideas into sustainable businesses with the launch of BIO EMPRENDE TRIFINIO, a call directed at entrepreneurs and small businesses interested in developing productive initiatives with environmental and social impact.
The call emerges within the framework of the project Resilient and Biodiverse Landscapes of Northern Mesoamerica, funded by the Biodiversity Landscapes Fund (BLF) and implemented by WCS and CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center), in collaboration with the Trinational Commission of the Trifinio Plan (CTPT) and various local partners. The innovation and entrepreneurship laboratory Activa-CATIE also participates, serving as the entity responsible for the incubation process and technical support for the projects that will be selected.

Under the slogan “Green Innovation for Resilient Communities,” the call aims to promote green businesses that generate employment, added value, and productive linkages, fostering models that integrate Nature-based Solutions (NbS) as a central axis for territorial transformation.
Who can participate?
BIO EMPRENDE TRIFINIO is aimed at entrepreneurs and businesses—individuals or legal entities—with residence or a permanent base in the Trifinio region of El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.

The ventures must:
- Have a formal product or service, or be in an early development stage.
- Be related to agricultural, livestock, forestry, tourism, food processing, or technological activities.
- Operate legally within the territory.
- Have availability to participate in the incubation process.
- Demonstrate interest in sustainable business models.
Priority will be given to Indigenous communities, young women, and families, reinforcing the project’s commitment to inclusion and territorial equity.
“Participants will receive professional mentoring to consolidate or improve their green idea or business, as well as learn how to design and optimize sustainable productive models with positive environmental impact. The call also provides an opportunity to increase the competitiveness of the venture and expand market opportunities through business strengthening and the incorporation of value-added approaches.
In addition, selected participants will have the advantage of connecting with technical, institutional, and community organizations, generating collaboration networks that can drive their growth and improve their positioning within the Trifinio region,” stated Vladimir Valera, Director of Activa-CATIE.
The call will remain open until January 18, 2026, and interested individuals may register by completing the form available at the following link: 👉 https://forms.o_ice.com/r/Mr21GkCnWF
