CATIE participates in the modernization of the Innovation Center of MAG and INTA

- “Good science is good agriculture. We celebrate this investment, which will strengthen innovation and directly benefit farming families,” stated CATIE’s Director General, Dr. Luis Pocasangre.
CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) took part in the inauguration of the modernization of the Los Diamantes Innovation Center in Guápiles, Limón, Costa Rica. This effort, led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) and the National Institute for Agricultural Technology Innovation and Transfer of Costa Rica (INTA), aims to strengthen the country's agricultural research and extension services.

During the event, CATIE’s Director General, Dr. Luis Pocasangre, shared the institution’s progress in plantain research and production, highlighting the value of collaborative work to bring innovative solutions to the field.
For his part, the Minister of Agriculture, Víctor Carvajal, emphasized the importance of the research–extension partnership to ensure that producers can access new technologies.
The renovated center includes germplasm banks for roots, tubers, and musaceae; experimental areas; training facilities; and lodging villas for producers and extension agents.
