CATIE launches IAgros Diploma Program with participation from professionals across Latin America

- The first edition brings together participants from eight countries and marks the start of a training initiative focused on innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in agribusiness.
CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) has launched the first edition of its International Diploma in Innovation in Sustainable Agribusiness (IAgros), a new educational initiative aimed at strengthening the competencies of regional professionals in innovation, sustainability, and value chain development.
The first cohort is composed of participants from Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, and Ecuador, who have begun their induction process and familiarization with the learning platform. On April 8, the first session of the module Innovation in the Agri-food Sector was held, officially marking the start of classes.
During the opening session, CATIE’s Director General, Dr. Luis Pocasangre, welcomed the students and highlighted the importance of innovation in agri-food systems, as well as the need for the region to respond strategically to current challenges, including changes in the global context. He also reiterated that the CATIE campus in Turrialba, Costa Rica, will be open to participants whenever they wish to visit.
This diploma program provides practical tools in areas such as innovation, value chain analysis, and financial management in agribusiness.
Interested individuals can still join upcoming modules: Value Chains and Sustainability in Agribusiness and Financial Management for Agribusiness, as well as optional two-week modules on project management and approaches and tools for effective collaboration with communities.
