CATIE visits Costa Rica's Presidential House
- The Director General was invited by President Rodrigo Chaves along with other members of the diplomatic corps.
June 20, 2022. Muhammad Ibrahim, director general of CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center), was invited to the Presidential House of Costa Rica along with other members of the diplomatic corps in the country. The invitation was extended by the new Costa Rican president, Rodrigo Chaves, who took office in May 2022.
The purpose of the invitation was to greet the diplomatic corps. During the activity, Ibrahim took the opportunity to talk with President Chaves about CATIE and its actions in education, research and outreach in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as in Costa Rica, the Center's host country. In addition, the Director General invited the President to visit CATIE's campus in Turrialba soon.
At the end of the activity, Ibrahim held talks with Ambassadors from Switzerland, United Kingdom, Nepal, Austria, Arab Emirates, Cuba, and Nicaragua; as well as with representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Costa Rica, seeking to expand the Center's cooperation relations.
