      • The visit took place on Monday, February 6, 2023.

February 7, 2023. In order to cooperate in Belize's blue and green economy development plan, the president of CATIE's (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) board of directors, Gale Garnett, together with the Center's director general, Muhammad Ibrahim, visited the country's Ministry of Economic Development and Investment.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investment, Osmond Martinez, as well as Carlos Pol, Director of the Climate Finance Unit, at which they agreed to collaborate jointly on climate finance and project design within the framework of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) preparation program in different phases.

The GCF seeks to contribute to the fulfillment of the primary objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, to promote a paradigm shift towards low emissions and climate-resilient development pathways, and to support projects, programs, policies and other activities in all developing countries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.

We thank the Ministry for its cordial reception, which motivates us to continue working bilaterally towards Inclusive Green Development throughout the Latin American and Caribbean region.
