      Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala recognised the work of CATIE's Director General

      • The institution highlighted the excellent work done by CATIE under the leadership of Muhammad Ibrahim and his contribution to the communities of Guatemala.

      22 June 2022. The University of San Carlos of Guatemala, its University Centre of Izabal and its Board of Trustees held a ceremony on 22 June to pay tribute to CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Centre), and especially to its director general, Muhammad Ibrahim, for his support to university higher education, research and development in the Guatemalan Caribbean, highlighting also the excellent work done improving the livelihoods of people in Guatemala, especially indigenous communities.

      The recognition was presented by José Robledo, who is a CATIE PhD graduate, and a graduate of the Masters in Watersheds Management.

      Other CATIE graduates who are currently contributing to the development of the region also participated in the activity, as well as CATIE's deputy director general, Juan Carlos Méndez, who is himself Guatemalan.
