IFARHU and CATIE collaborate to award scholarships to Panamanian students
- The agreement between the two institutions is in the final stage of endorsement by the Comptroller's Office of the Republic of Panama.
April 4, 2023. On April 3, Panama's Institute for Training and Human Resources Development (IFARHU, its Spanish acronym), represented by its secretary general, Indira Alvarado, and its legal advisor, Jonathan Gordón, received the director general of CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center), Muhammad Ibrahim, and the Center's representative in Panama, Elvin Britton, to learn about the progress of their cooperation agreement, which will enable young Panamanians to receive a scholarship to study for a postgraduate degree at CATIE in Costa Rica.
During the meeting, Alvarado explained the details and approval processes of the agreement between the institutions for Panamanian students to carry out their postgraduate studies at CATIE. The agreement is in the final stage of endorsement by the Comptroller's Office of the Republic of Panama, which enables it to initiate the call for applications for scholarships for 2023.
This agreement, signed at the end of 2022 , is designed to grant scholarships in CATIE's postgraduate academic programs and includes face-to-face, virtual and bimodal modalities. The agreement also includes diploma courses and specialized courses offered by CATIE.
Ibrahim thanked Alvarado for his attention and invited IFARHU to visit CATIE as part of the follow-up to the fellowship program and to accompany the Center in the celebration of its 50th anniversary.
Once the call for applications for scholarships is launched, both institutions will be communicating it on their websites and social networks, so that interested Panamanians can apply.
